Sistem Operasi Komputer NeXTSTEP R3, Abang Kepada Sistem OS X Dan iOS - Apple Inc.

... Namun harganya pula amat terlalu mahal!

Satu Jenayah Jika Manipulasi Data Peribadi

The Number One Way Hackers Get Into Protected Systems By Guessing The Password

The number one way hackers get into protected systems isn't through a fancy technical exploit. It's by guessing the password.

That's not too hard when the most common password used on business systems is "Password1."

There's a technical reason for Password1's popularity: It's got an upper-case letter, a number and nine characters. That satisfies the complexity rules for many systems, including the default settings for Microsoft's widely used Active Directory identity management software.

Security services firm Trustwave spotlighted the "Password1" problem in its recently released "2012 Global Security Report," which summarizes the firm's findings from nearly 2 million network vulnerability scans and 300 recent security breach investigations.

Around 5% of passwords involve a variation of the word "password," the company's researchers found. The runner-up, "welcome," turns up in more than 1%.

Easily guessable or entirely blank passwords were the most common vulnerability Trustwave's SpiderLabs unit found in its penetration tests last year on clients' systems. The firm set an assortment of widely available password-cracking tools loose on 2.5 million passwords, and successfully broke more than 200,000 of them.

Verizon came up with similar results in its 2012 Data Breach Investigations Report, one of the security industry's most comprehensive annual studies. The full report will be released in several months, but Verizon previewed some of its findings at this week's RSA conference in San Francisco.

Exploiting weak or guessable passwords was the top method attackers used to gain access last year. It played a role in 29% of the security breaches Verizon's response team investigated.

Verizon's scariest finding was that attackers are often inside victims' networks for months or years before they're discovered. Less than 20% of the intrusions Verizon studied were discovered within days, let alone hours.

Even scarier: Few companies discovered the breach on their own. More than two-thirds learned they'd been attacked only after an external party, such as a law-enforcement agency, notified them. Trustwave's findings were almost identical: Only 16% of the cases it investigated last year were internally detected.

So if your password is something guessable, what's the best way to make it more secure? Make it longer.

Adding complexity to your password -- swapping "password" for "p@S$w0rd" -- protects against so-called "dictionary" attacks, which automatically check against a list of standard words.

But attackers are increasingly using brute-force tools that simply cycle through all possible character combinations. Length is the only effective guard against those. A seven-character password has 70 trillion possible combinations; an eight-character password takes that to more than 6 quadrillion.

Even a few quadrillion options isn't a big deal for modern machines, though. Using a $1,500 computer built with off-the-shelf parts, it took Trustwave just 10 hours to harvest its 200,000 broken passwords.

"We've got to get ourselves using stuff larger than human memory capacity," independent security researcher Dan Kaminsky said during an RSA presentation on why passwords don't work.

He acknowledged that it's an uphill fight. Biometric authentication, smartcards, one-time key generators and other solutions can increase security, but at the cost of adding complexity.

"The fundamental win of the password over every other authentication technology is its utter simplicity on every device," Kaminsky said. "This is, of course, also their fundamental failing." To top of page

Anna Chapman video before 'Russian spy' charges.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0Cixl20D80

While Russia's foreign ministry has acknowledged its citizens are among the 10 who've been detained, it denies that anything has been done to harm U.S. interests. One of the arrested individuals in the 'deep cover spy ring' case, Anna Chapman, was said to have "met with an individual purporting to be a Russian Government official in Manhattan, New York, at which she received a fraudulent passport," according to the official criminal report.

Chapman was also arrested for apparently using her laptop computer inside of a New York City coffee shop at the same time that a Russian Government official was driving by in a minivan. Moscow has already called the charges "contradictory," and is demanding more information on the criminal proceedings from their US counterparts.

However, some Office 2010 users may encounter installation issue where installation process of Office 2010 halts unexpected before completion, and then stuck forever and indefinitely despite hitting “Cancel” button or rollback the installation.

To make matter worse, it’s impossible to start the installation of Office 2010 again, as install wizard won’t start. There is no entry of Office 2010 in Add and Remove Programs or Programs and Features list too, so end-user cannot uninstall or rollback the failed Office 2010 install attempt. It’s also impossible to install any other version of Office (such as Office 2007) to supersede, overwrite or replace the corrupted Office 2010 installation, the installation wizard cannot continue as another setup was not completed.
It’s also possible that users who messed around with the registry keys and/or license files of Office 2010 will render the Office 2010 installation not working, and any attempt to reinstall with have installer rolls back with error message of “License cannot be verified”.

To fix the Office 2010 installation issue so that Office 2010 can be installed properly, follow these steps as suggested by Microsoft:
  1. Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
  2. Run Windows Install Clean Up.
  3. Highlight Microsoft Office 2010 entry in the list and then click Remove.
Note: If there is any other old or redundant office entries such as Office 2007 or other Office standalone products such as Visio in the list, do highlight and remove them together.
  4. Quit the Windows Install Clean Up when cleanup process finished.
  5. Close all applications.
  6. Click Start, in the Search box, type regedit and press Enter to run Registry Editor.
  7. Expand the registry tree on the left pane and locate the following two registry subkeys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office
  8. Right-click on the registry subkeys and click Delete to delete those keys.
  9. Open Windows Explorer, and then browse to the C:\Program Filesand/or C:\Program Files (x86) folder.
  10. Perform the following actions:
If it exists, rename Microsoft Office to “Microsoft Office OLD”
If it exists, rename OfficeUpdate to “OfficeUpdateOLD”
If it exists, rename OfficeUpdate14 to “OfficeUpdate14OLD”
  11. Click Start, in the Search box, type %Temp% and press Enter.
  12. Empty (delete all files and folders inside) the Temp folder.
Note: If some files can’t be deleted, just skip them.

For those who want the security of access to the Facebook site more secure.

Encrypt the Web: Install HTTPS Everywhere

HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox extension produced as a collaboration between The Tor Project and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. It encrypts your communications with a number of major websites.
Many sites on the web offer some limited support for encryption over HTTPS, but make it difficult to use. For instance, they may default to unencrypted HTTP, or fill encrypted pages with links that go back to the unencrypted site.

The HTTPS Everywhere extension fixes these problems by rewriting all requests to these sites to HTTPS.

The plugin currently works for:
  • Google Search
  • Wikipedia
  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • The New York Times
  • The Washington Post
  • Paypal
  • EFF
  • Tor
  • Ixquick

(and many other sites)

7 THINGS TO STOP DOING NOW ON FACEBOOK

i) Using a Weak Password

Avoid simple names or words you can find in a dictionary, even with numbers tacked on the end. Instead, mix upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols. A password should have at least eight characters. One good technique is to insert numbers or symbols in the middle of a word, such as this variant on the word "houses": hO27usEs!

ii) Leaving Your Full Birth Date in Your Profile

It's an ideal target for identity thieves, who could use it to obtain more information about you and potentially gain access to your bank or credit card account. If you've already entered a birth date, go to your profile page and click on the Info tab, then on Edit Information. Under the Basic Information section, choose to show only the month and day or no birthday at all.

iii) Overlooking Useful Privacy Controls

For almost everything in your Facebook profile, you can limit access to only your friends, friends of friends, or yourself. Restrict access to photos, birth date, religious views, and family information, among other things. You can give only certain people or groups access to items such as photos, or block particular people from seeing them. Consider leaving out contact info, such as phone number and address, since you probably don't want anyone to have access to that information anyway.

iv) Posting Your Child's Name in a Caption

Don't use a child's name in photo tags or captions. If someone else does, delete it by clicking on Remove Tag. If your child isn't on Facebook and someone includes his or her name in a caption, ask that person to remove the name.

v) Mentioning That You'll Be Away From Home

That's like putting a "no one's home" sign on your door. Wait until you get home to tell everyone how awesome your vacation was and be vague about the date of any trip.

vi) Letting Search Engines Find You

To help prevent strangers from accessing your page, go to the Search section of Facebook's privacy controls and select Only Friends for Facebook search results. Be sure the box for public search results isn't checked.

vii) Permitting Youngsters to Use Facebook Unsupervised

Facebook limits its members to ages 13 and over, but children younger than that do use it. If you have a young child or teenager on Facebook, the best way to provide oversight is to become one of their online friends. Use your e-mail address as the contact for their account so that you receive their notifications and monitor their activities. "What they think is nothing can actually be pretty serious," says Charles Pavelites, a supervisory special agent at the Internet Crime Complaint Center. For example, a child who posts the comment "Mom will be home soon, I need to do the dishes" every day at the same time is revealing too much about the parents' regular comings and goings.
